PROMPT - a technique and approach developed by the PROMPT Institute™, is a multidimensional therapeutic approach for developing speech-motor skills that integrates all domains and systems whilst targeting positive communication outcomes.

This approach provides tactile input (implemented with varying intensity and focus) to restructure oral muscular phonetic targets required for speech production and is suited to children with any speech production or motor speech disorder form approximately 6 months of age onwards. PROMPT Institute™ therapy and intervention focuses on functional speech.  Our PROMPT therapist focuses on word targets that are relevant and have meaning to the child so he or she is connected and motivated to what they are learning. When using the PROMPT Institute™ approach our Speech and Language Pathologists will come up with motivating activities or games where the words and sounds can be repeated. Our trained Speech and Language Pathologists will then use a physical prompt to support the motor movements as the child practices saying those words. Learning new motor skills takes a lot of practice and family members are essential for providing support.
